Care instructions

Please take note of the following tips to make sure your pieces will last a lifetime.

As much of the jewellery I sell is delicate, handle it with care. Don't exert too much force or it might twist or even break. And be careful that the items do not get caught in your –or other people's– clothing as you risk damaging not only the clothes, but also your jewellery.

When you exercise, do physical work or sports, do gardening, and when you go to bed: please do not wear your jewellery. And try to keep it away from tiny fingers and curious pets.

Note that changes in appearance of a piece's finish are a sign of normal wear and tear.

Feel an itch or get a rash? Take off the jewellery at once and consult your GP.

When you clean your jewellery over a sink, make sure to close the drain as it's very easy and all too common to lose items like this!

Silver

When you wear silver jewellery or store it unprotected, it will oxidise eventually. This is a natural process and cannot be completely prevented.

Storing your items in a closed-off bag or box when you're not wearing them can slow this process down.

If you'd like to clean silver jewellery, please use a silver cloth. Alternatively, you can use a mild dish soap (no detergent) in lukewarm water with a very soft toothbrush to remove more difficult stains or grease, however take great care as you could easily damage the finish.

Oxidised silver

Oxidised silver is silver that's been chemically treated to change its colour. Chemicals in your skin, in washing liquid, in a swimming pool, or even in the air can and will change its colour over time.

Because of all these highly unpredictable circumstances, changes in the colour of oxidised silver in my pieces are not covered under any guarantee.

Scratching and natural wear and tear will wear off the oxidisation. If you'd like to restore this, please go see a local goldsmith.

Alternatively, rub your fingers on your forehead or your nose to get some skin grease on them, and apply this to the oxidised parts of your jewellery—you'll notice the colour will darken immediately. However, this is a quick fix which will eventually wear off.

It's better not to polish oxidised silver as it will remove the oxidation finish.

Finally, store oxidised silver separately from unoxidised metals as the oxidised piece will speed up the natural oxidation of the other metals.

18K gold

The amazing thing about 18K gold is that you probably won't need to polish it.

If you'd like to clean gold jewellery, please use a gold cloth. Alternatively, you can use a mild dish soap (no detergent) in lukewarm water with a very soft toothbrush to remove more difficult stains or grease, however take great care as you could easily damage the finish.

Quartz and pearls

All products with pearls, quartz and other stones are sensitive to heat. Keep them away from hot water and other high temperatures and from perfumes.

Also, be careful not to knock them against hard surfaces as there's a chance it will damage the pearls, quarts or other stones.
